China's State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a video conversation on Wednesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The two sides exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue.
Wang Yi said that China understands Iran's reasonable demands and supports Iran in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. Under the current circumstances, all parties should make joint efforts to maintain the momentum of resuming talks and push for agreement at the Vienna negotiations, he said.
Abdollahian said Iran is willing to participate in the nuclear negotiations with a positive attitude. He said Iran thanks China for upholding justice in the Iranian nuclear issue and international affairs and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation, jointly push for positive results of the third foreign ministers' meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries to be hosted by China next year, give play to the unique role of neighboring countries and contribute to the long-term peace and stability of Afghanistan.
